The Dallas crew that drills it, installs it, and stands behind it
Since 2016, Excel Geothermal has completed 1,000+ installations across Dallas–Fort Worth. We own our drilling rigs and our spray foam equipment — so one company answers for your whole system.
Roy Schar
President & owner
Roy founded Excel Geothermal in 2016 with one conviction: geothermal is the best way to heat and cool a Texas building, and DFW deserved a contractor who does the whole job right. He brought 25+ years of hands-on HVAC experience with him.
Instead of hiring subcontractors, Roy bought drilling rigs, trained his own spray foam crews, and kept design, installation, and service under one roof. He still personally oversees quality on every project.
He also hosts the Excel Geothermal Podcast, where he explains the technology in plain language and shares stories from the field — the same education-first approach you'll find all over this site.

Four trades. One company. Zero subcontractors.
A typical geothermal job elsewhere involves 3–4 separate companies — a drilling sub, an HVAC contractor, an insulation sub, and a separate service company. When something goes wrong, they point at each other. At Excel, every trade is our own crew.
4 trades · 1 company · 0 subcontractors — nothing gets lost in a handoff.
-
Well drilling. Our own rigs and licensed drillers — 22,000+ ft of vertical bore on a single project. Wells are one-time, permanent infrastructure.
-
HVAC installation. 1,000+ WaterFurnace and ClimateMaster systems designed, set, and commissioned by our own technicians.
-
Spray foam insulation. In-house crews — up to 6–12 inches of foam on commercial jobs like Home Run Alley — so the efficiency we install isn't leaked away.
-
Service & repair. Once your system is in, we stay with it — seasonal tune-ups, diagnostics, and 24-hour emergency repair by our own NATE-certified technicians.
What this means for you
One phone number, one warranty conversation, one crew that knows your whole system. If the driller and the installer are the same company, nothing gets blamed on "the other guys."
